About the Fund

Tibet is one of the most impoverished and remote regions in China, where economic development is far below the national level. Most of the Tibetan families have an annual average household income of USD247, way below the Absolute Poverty Line of USD1 per day per household as defined by the United Nations. The poverty level is high and the living conditions are poor. Medical, community and educational facilities for children in particular are insufficient.

The China Tibetan Children Health and Education Fund Limited, a charitable organization officially launched in October 2005, and granted tax exemption status by the Inland Revenue Department of the Hong Kong SAR Government in December 2006, is a response by a group of people who are concerned about the plight of the children in Tibet and would like to involve in helping to better the future of these children.

The mission of the Fund is to help to achieve a better environment for Tibetan children to grow and develop. The Fund endeavors to arouse public awareness about the healthcare and educational needs of the children in Tibet while also undertakes specific projects to provide actual improvements.

Children are our future. Tibetan children are no exception. Their future lies in having better education and healthcare, so that they will be able to provide for their own children in future generations to live safe, healthy and fulfilling lives.
